Club Information
We will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 2:00 pm. They will be about 30 to 45 minutes long.
The purpose of this club is to invite ukulele players, new and returning, to play with each other, learn new songs, and make new friends with the same hobby as them. I hope that this club will grow and hopefully reach out to more ukulele players not just in Mater Dei.
This club asks students to pick up a new instrument or to return playing the ukulele. Because this is not limited to people who already know how to play, the students are more likely to be interested in this club. Also, returning players can help out others who are just learning.
Some potential events would be Club Day, Open House, and possibly rallies.
One potential event we might have at the end of the month is asking the students to send in videos of them playing the song we learned that month and make a collaboration with all of the videos. Another potential event would be solo performances in public to raise money for different charities. I think this event should last at least 30 minutes. If this is not possible because of the events happening now, we could possibly have a YouTube fundraiser event.
A potential service event would be hosting a zoom call for people who do not get very many visits, especially during the holidays and now with this virus, and playing for them, taking time to make them cards, and/or give them presents.
The bi-monthly practices will be on the first and third Thursdays of the month. I feel that it would be best to plan the other events, excluding the end of the month video, when an opportunity comes along.
